DOW FilmTec Membranes
DOW FILMTEC Seawater Desalination RO Elements

DOW FILMTEC offers a variety of premium grade seawater reverse osmosis elements featuring both high active area and high salt rejection to offer long-term economics for seawater desalination systems. SW30 seawater membrane elements have one of the highest flow rates available to meet the water demands of both sea-based and land-based desalinators. DOW FILMTEC SW30 membrane elements may also be operated at lower pressure to reduce pump size, cost, and operating expenses. DOW FILMTEC seawater membrane elements are more durable and may be cleaned more effectively over a wider pH range (1-13) than other RO elements.

Benefits of DOW FilmTec Seawater RO Membrane Elements

  • Create drinking water from seawater.
  • High Salt rejection for high quality permeate  .
  • HR elements offer high boron rejection to help customers meet World Health Organization (WHO) and other drinking water standards
  • SW30 elements provide longer life due to high cleanability.
  • Reduced system cost and operating expenses when operated at lower pressures.
  • iLEC™ interlocking elements are available in for 8” elements and offer the following benefits:
    • Reliable and long-term seal integrity – The single, non-sliding seal reduces the number of potential leak sites and is evenly compressed upon installation.
    • Leak-tight performance – The iLEC design eliminates the possibility of o-rings being rolled from their grooves or pinched and damaged during operation.
    • Lubricant-free operation – Omission of o-ring lubricant to preserve permeate quality, such as in ultra-pure water applications, will not compromise sealing performance.
    • Backward compatibility – Compatibility with existing hardware is maintained.  The smooth inner bore located at each end of the permeate collection tube is unchanged, permitting insertion of sliding couplers and existing vessel adapters.  The net length of the elements, when connected, remains 40 inches.
    • Reduced permeate pressure drop – Internal couplers and vessel adapters account for more than 70 percent of the permeate-tube pressure drop in some systems. The interlocking endcap design minimizes these restrictions, imposing less permeate backpressure.

FilmTec XLE & ULE – Low Energy Seawater Desalination RO Membranes

DOW FILMTEC SW30XLE & SW30ULE elements offer a good combination of productivity and rejection resulting in a low energy seawater element and low operating cost. It is ideal for two-pass seawater designs and high TDS brackish water applications. DOW FILMTEC SW30XLE elements come with iLEC™ Interlocking Endcaps that reduce system operating costs and reduce the risk of o-ring leaks that cause poor water quality.
